Voice call and SMS notifications via Skype!

October 29, 2007

COMING SOON!

For those of you not familiar with VOIP (Voice Over Internet) clients,  It allows a voice call to be sent to a landline or mobile phone through an internet connection. Skype is the most popular of these VOIP clients. The new feature will provide a cost effective solution to using your securityProbe unit to give a call notification. No longer will you need a serial voice modem connected to the serial port for voice calls!

Another key feature of Skype is the ability to send SMS messages to their supported GSM networks. You will be able to recieve an SMS notification from your securityProbe unit without the need for setting up a GSM enabled mobile phone with a bluetooth or serial connection. Soon compatibility issues with phones and our units will be a thing of the past.

SecurityProbe Mapping feature

October 25, 2007

The securityProbe unit has been a big seller since it’s release just a short time ago. We at AKCP are constantly working to improve our products through firmware releases. The latest of these adds some great new functions to the mapping module of the securityProbe web interface. An intuitive mapping wizard leads the user through the process of embedding any standard image file (Jpg, Gif, PNG, BMP) into the web interface of your unit.

This feature is ideal for monitoring rooms where instant visual feedback as to a sensors location and status is required. Multiple maps are supported, so for example you could have an overview map, and then a more detailed map of a specific location should you have several sensors clustered together. Take a look at the demo video below for a quick visual overview of this feature. (remember, the videos are heavily compressed on the blog and do not truly reflect the quality of the interface. For a real live demo of this please contact support@akcp.com and we will be happy to set one up for you). For more information on the security probe and to see the below video in full screen please visit http://www.akcp.com/company/securityProbe.htm.
